Support for further expansion of relations and cooperation was expressed by Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Mr. Chinbat Namjil

On October 28, 2021, Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia, President of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (AACC) Mr. Chinbat Namjil received H.E. Lee Yeo Hong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Mongolia.

Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia praised the cooperation between the Constitutional Courts of the two countries, saying, “The Constitutional Courts of our countries have a good foundation and rich history of cooperation. The Constitutional Court of Mongolia, in cooperation with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), successfully implemented the e-court project. We are eager to support further development of such relations and cooperation”.

He further informed the Ambassador that the Constitutional Court of Mongolia is presiding over the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (AACC). He highlighted that “the AACC was established by the hard work of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Korea with the support of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia. In the future, the AACC will play an important role in developing the cooperation between the constitutional courts, formulating a theoretical and methodological basis to determine the direction of its development, and improving the effectiveness of cooperation”.

He also noted that “the AACC Secretariat for Research and Development (SRD) is located at the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Korea. The staff of the Secretariat of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia has a good tradition of conducting research works at the SRD. We’re interested in continuing this cooperation since the fundamental and ancillary research on theoretical issues of the Constitutional Court is very important. The Constitutional Court of Mongolia plans to hold a number of events during its presidency of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (AACC), one of which will be an international scientific symposium on “Development Trends of the Constitutional Court” in 2022. These events coincide with the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the new Constitution of Mongolia and the establishment of the Constitutional Court”.

During the meeting, Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia Mr. Chinbat Namjil asked the Ambassador to convey the invitation of the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Korea Mr. Namseok Yoo to pay visit to Mongolia at any convenient time.

Ambassador Lee Yeo Hong said he would convey the invitation to the President of the Constitutional Court and congratulated the Constitutional Court of Mongolia on its presidency over the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (AACC).

He said that Mongolia is one of the most important partners in " The New Northern Policy” implemented by the Government of the Republic of Korea. He added “During a recent meeting, our Presidents agreed to continue the development of cooperation in many areas. In this context, I am confident that the cooperation between the Constitutional courts of our countries will continue to develop more actively”.
